E-Type Trivia & Fun Facts

The E-Type began as a racing car with the racing taken out. Jaguar won Le Mans five times with the C-Type and the D-Type, and in March 1961 it unveiled the road car in Geneva, claiming 150 mph at about half the price of its exotic rivals. About 72,500 were built before production ended in 1974. Ninety verified questions — the man who drew it with slide rules, the XK engine, the Series 1, 2 and 3, the V12, the Lightweight and the electric E-type Zero.

Q47 · PART 6 · GLASS HEADLIGHTS
What was removed from the Series 2 headlights?
The glass covers. They were removed from cars everywhere, largely because of American safety rules, and the Series 1½ of 1967 and 1968 is what owners call the cars in between.
